Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP)

A Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) helps you save for retirement with tax advantages.

  • Tax-deferred growth until withdrawal
  • Unused room carries forward
  • Tax-free transfer to an RRIF
  • Borrow up to $60,000 for a home
  • Withdraw up to $10,000/year for education

Tax‑Free Savings Account (TFSA)

A Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) allows your investments to grow tax-free, and withdrawals are also tax-free.

  • Available to Canadians at the age of majority
  • Contribution room is cumulative
  • Flexible for short‑ and long‑term savings
  • Tax‑free withdrawals anytime
  • Withdrawals don’t affect Old Age Security, Canada Pension Plan or Guaranteed Income Supplement

First Home Savings Plan (FHSA)

A First Home Savings Account (FHSA) helps first-time homebuyers with tax-deductible contributions and tax-free withdrawals.

  • For first‑time Canadian home buyers (19 years in BC and up to 71)
  • $8,000 annual / $40,000 lifetime limit
  • Contributions are tax‑deductible
  • Tax‑free withdrawals for a first home
  • Can be combined with the Home Buyer’s Plan

Education Savings Plan (RESP)

A Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) helps you save for a child's post-secondary education with tax-deferred growth and government grants.

  • $50,000 lifetime contribution per child
  • Canada Learning Bond paid automatically
  • 20% Canada Education Savings Grant (CESG) match on first $2,500 (up to $7,200)
  • Can be withdrawn while child is attending school

Disability Savings Plan (RDSP)

A Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) helps people with disabilities save for long-term financial security, offering government matching contributions and tax-deferred growth.

  • Tax‑free growth on earnings
  • Canada Disability Savings Bond paid automatically (income‑tested)
  • Up to $1,000/year ($20,000 lifetime;prorated)
  • Additional grants and matching may apply

Retirement Income Fund (RRIF)

A Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF) provides retirees with a steady income from their RRSP savings, with tax-deferred growth until withdrawals are made.

  • Withdraw income during retirement after the age of 71
  • Minimum withdrawals required, no maximum
  • Can be set up at any age to defer tax
  • Flexible payments to suit retirement needs
