Sending a wire transfer

When sending a wire transfer, you will need to provide the beneficiary information as well as the beneficiary bank information outlined below. Where available, it’s recommended to ask the receiver for their bank’s incoming wire transfer form to help determine the precise information their bank requires. Once you have collected all of the details you are ready to visit your branch to have a representative send your wire transfer.

Beneficiary Information
  1. Full name of the individual(s) or full company name for the businesses (exactly as shown on the account)
  2. Account number
  3. Full address
    • Street Address (P.O. boxes not acceptable)
    • City
    • State or Province
    • Zip or Postal Code
    • Country
Beneficiary Bank Information
  1. Bank Name
  2. Branch full address

    • Street Address (P.O. boxes not acceptable)
    • City
    • State or Province
    • Zip or Postal Code
    • Country
  3. Bank details

    • Canada: Routing code (contains bank and transit number)
    • USA: SWIFT/BIC code and ABA number
    • International: SWIFT/BIC Code and some countries require an IBAN number
  4. Correspondent/Intermediary Bank information (if required)

    In many international transfers, a correspondent or intermediary bank is used if the sending financial institution and the receiving financial institution don't have a direct relationship and will often charge an additional fee which varies per transaction.
  5. Other (if required)

    Banks in some countries require additional information like a reason for the wire, tax ID, phone number and/or more. Please verify with the beneficiary before visiting a branch to send a wire transfer.

Receiving a wire transfer

If you're expecting a wire transfer, you will need to provide the sender with the following information:

  1. Your full name or full company name for your business and address
  2. Your bank full name and branch address
  3. Your account information which includes:
    1. Transit number (5 digits)
    2. Institution number/route number/bank number (3 digits)
    3. Full account number (12 digits)
    4. You can find these details by logging into your online banking or the mobile app, referencing one of your cheques or by contacting our Member Advice Centre.

Please note: If the wire transfer doesn't include all the necessary originator and beneficiary information, this may result in the refusal of the wire and the return of funds to the originator. A $25.00 service fee will be charged on all incoming wires where originator information is missing. Valley First will not be responsible for payment delays or payment cancellations due to missing information.
